Head of PPC – Greater Manchester


Purpose of the role:


An ambitious and growing digital marketing agency is seeking a highly experienced Head of PPC to lead the strategic direction, execution, and continuous improvement of all paid media initiatives. This crucial role involves managing a talented PPC team, overseeing significant client accounts, and fostering innovation to achieve outstanding performance and revenue growth.


As the leader of the PPC department, you will work closely with senior management to align paid media strategies with overall business objectives, ensuring the team remains at the cutting edge of digital marketing excellence.


Reporting directly to the Technical Director, the Head of PPC will be key in developing and mentoring the team, building strong client relationships, and expanding the agency’s paid media capabilities.


Main Roles and Responsibilities:


Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the PPC team, fostering their growth, performance, and professional advancement.
  • Define the strategic vision for the team, setting clear goals and KPIs to drive success.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, innovative, and high-achieving team environment.


Strategic PPC Management:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of sophisticated paid media strategies across various platforms, including major search engines and social media.
  • Drive overall campaign success, consistently meeting or exceeding key performance indicators such as click-through rate, cost-per-click, cost-per-acquisition, return on ad spend, and revenue targets.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and strategic expansion within PPC campaigns.


Data-Driven Insights & Strategy:

  • Analyze extensive datasets to extract actionable insights, identify trends, and pinpoint optimization opportunities.
  • Develop robust forecasting models and budget strategies for clients, aligning with their objectives and market dynamics.
  • Ensure all campaign strategies are grounded in data analysis and integrated with broader marketing objectives.


Client Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary strategic contact for key clients, providing expert advice and thought leadership.
  • Present compelling performance reports, insights, and actionable recommendations to clients.
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction by proactively addressing needs and exceeding expectations.


New Business Development:

  • Play a vital role in identifying and securing new client opportunities, including the development of pitch strategies and proposals.
  • Lead the PPC component of new business presentations, showcasing the agency’s expertise and delivering strategic solutions.


Continuous Learning & Innovation:

  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, and new tools to maintain a competitive advantage.
  • Champion innovative approaches to campaign management, testing new techniques and technologies.
  • Share industry knowledge and best practices with the team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning.


Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Oversee the creation of detailed, actionable performance reports for all accounts.
  • Conduct regular audits of accounts to ensure optimal efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to best practices.
  • Report departmental progress and results to senior leadership, including key insights and strategic recommendations.


The Ideal Candidate:


Experience & Expertise:

  • A minimum of 6 years of hands-on PPC experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrable success in managing and optimizing complex paid media campaigns across diverse platforms.
  • Strong technical proficiency in major advertising platforms and analytics tools, with a deep understanding of attribution models and advanced bidding strategies.
