Lead Software Engineer

About Us We are a fast-growing B2B AI startup building an advanced AI agent platform that already powers over 100 enterprise sales teams. We operate at the cutting edge of sales tech, conversational AI, and enterprise GTM. We are looking for a highly capable Lead Software Engineer to be the technical anchor for our New York team.


The Role We are seeking a "cracked tech lead"—not an engineering manager—who can drive high-impact projects from ambiguity to production. In this role, you will take on deep architectural ownership while keeping a strong bias toward product engineering and customer-facing surfaces.


You will also play a critical role in team development. Our NYC team currently includes 7-8 highly capable junior developers; you will be the senior anchor who raises their floor, reviews their PRs, and accelerates their growth into senior contributors. You will own the complex architectural challenges that junior engineers and AI-assisted coding tools cannot solve alone.


What You’ll Do:


  • Architectural Leadership: Shape the architecture of our core AI agent platform and make critical distributed systems decisions.
  • Feature Ownership: Take full ownership of a challenging flagship feature within your first 6 months (e.g., proactive, agentic user suggestions).
  • Mentorship: Actively mentor 7-8 junior developers, providing oversight and guiding them through complex technical problems.
  • Product Engineering: Work closely with product leadership to not just build features, but articulate why they should exist.


What We’re Looking For:


  • Deep Technical Expertise: Real, production-scale expertise in distributed systems and proficiency in Go (the primary language of our stack).
  • Proven Tech Lead Experience: You have operated as a tech lead or engineering lead—not just a strong IC—and have actively shaped (not just shipped within) meaningful architecture in a B2B or enterprise SaaS context.
  • System Evolution: You have spent 3+ years at a single company (ideally a Series A-D startup) and have seen systems and tradeoffs evolve over time.
  • In-Person Commitment: A strong desire to build shoulder-to-shoulder with a tight-knit team. Being in our NYC office 5 days a week is a strict, non-negotiable requirement.
  • AI-Forward Mindset: An AI-forward tooling mindset and a high-ownership temperament.


Nice-to-Haves:

  • Background in conversational AI, sales workflows, CRM integration, call analytics, or revenue intelligence.
  • Familiarity with Temporal for workflow orchestration.
  • A strong builder track record or side projects outside of your day job.
