Founding Frontend Engineer

My client is an early stage but well-backed fintech that is transforming commercial lending for community banks and small businesses using AI. This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor level as the founding frontend engineer. You will play a key role in shaping the product, building the frontend architecture, and owning features end to end. There is an engineer in currently, but after a successful launch & a surge in customer demand, we now need to start building the team out.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead development of responsive, accessible, and high-performance frontend features using React and TypeScript
• Build and scale reusable component systems and integrate with backend APIs
• Contribute to architecture, design systems, and best practices as the product evolves
• Take ownership of features from design through to production, including testing and performance optimization
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend engineers to deliver impactful solutions
• Ensure security and fintech compliance when handling sensitive data

Ideal Candidate

• 5+ years of production experience with React and TypeScript
• Strong understanding of component architecture, hooks, and meta-frameworks (Next.js, Remix, etc.)
• Experience with server-state management (TanStack Query, SWR, RTK Query) and frontend testing frameworks (Vitest/Jest, Storybook, Playwright/Cypress)
• Skilled in responsive design, accessibility, and UI component libraries (Tailwind, Radix/shadcn)
• Comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving, in-person startup environment
• Curious about AI and excited to work on mission-driven fintech products
